The Business Development Executive - Functions & Events is responsible for generating new business opportunities, nurturing client relationships, and driving sales growth across functions, corporate events, weddings, and private celebrations. This role focuses on proactive outreach, strategic partnerships, and achieving revenue targets by promoting the venue's unique offerings. The ideal candidate is commercially driven, well-connected, and passionate about delivering memorable event experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

  • Proactively identify, pursue and contract new business opportunities across corporate, social, and special event segments.
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of leads through outbound calls, networking, site visits, and industry events.
  • Build strong relationships with event agencies, PCOs, wedding planners, and key decision-makers.
  • Prepare and present tailored proposals, function packages, and event contracts to convert leads into confirmed bookings.
  • Collaborate with the Sales and Marketing Manager to develop and execute campaigns that target key market segments.

Client Relationship Management

  • Act as the main point of contact for key accounts and high-value clients.
  • Deliver a seamless client experience from initial enquiry through to post-event follow-up.
  • Host site inspections, tastings, and familiarisation events to showcase the venue and service offerings.
  • Monitor client satisfaction and implement strategies to encourage repeat business and referrals.

Strategy & Reporting

  • Assist in setting and achieving monthly and annual sales targets for function and event revenue.
  • Track and report on sales performance, lead conversion rates, and market trends.
  • Maintain accurate records of leads, bookings, and communications in Event Temple
  • Work closely with operations and event coordinators to ensure smooth event delivery aligned with client expectations.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • 2+ years' experience in business development, sales, or event management within hospitality, venues, or tourism.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and close high-value sales.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in CRM and booking systems (e.g., Salesforce, Ivvy, EventPro).
  • High level of initiative, accountability, and customer service focus.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of local corporate, tourism, or wedding markets.
  • Experience in hotel, winery, or premium function venue environments.
  • Marketing or sales qualification is an advantage.
