Overview

Legal Counsel - Financial Services - Commercial Contracts

JS Careers is currently working with a leading Financial Services firm supporting the appointment of a Legal Counsel to assist with commercial/contracts law as well as broad internal legal advice to the business. Reporting to a Legal Director, the successful candidate will have experience in commercial law ideally with exposure to technology procurement in highly regulated environments. This role will work closely with stakeholders across the firm in providing commercially oriented legal advice related to vendors, suppliers, commercial contracts and regulatory obligations.

Base pay range

A$140,000.00/yr - A$190,000.00/yr

Role responsibilities
  • Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements relating to suppliers, vendors, and procurement activity.
  • Corporate and commercial legal advice to the business.
  • Lead the negotiation, drafting and review of general commercial, procurement and IT contracts, including software licenses, service agreements, technology procurement contracts and vendor agreements.
  • Managing regulatory body relationships and providing advisory support to the group in relation to relevant regulatory updates.
  • Providing legal and regulatory advice to the business on new products and services and proactively anticipating legal issues and identifying future regulatory requirements.
  • Overseeing external counsel on complex matters.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Laws.
  • 3+ years PQE within a relevant field.
  • Understanding of procurement agreements.
  • Ability to operate autonomously and apply sound commercial and risk judgment to various situations.
  • Can-do, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude.
  • Outstanding collaboration and interpersonal skills.
