Responsibilities
  • As the Haematology Trials Fellow, you will develop expertise in the diagnosis and management of haematological disorders, with exposure to clinical research and clinical trials.
  • Collaborate with patients, scientific staff, and other health professionals from public and private health services to achieve high quality service provision to patients.
  • Understand, review, and implement treatment protocols, quality monitoring requirements including clinical audit and critical reviews.
  • Provide routine and urgent medical assessment and clinical care to Haematology patients being screened and participating in clinical trials as a certified investigator within the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District.
  • Where appropriate, undertake screening and provision of care to clinical trials patients in Wollongong Private Hospital.
  • Support ISLHD's vision and values, including commitment to equity, health, improvement, timeliness and efficiency, and evidence-based service delivery.
Qualifications
  • MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category and completed training with FRACP/FRCPA or FRACP only or international equivalent for Haematology.
  • Demystrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team in planning, delivery and coordination of patient care.
  • High level communication skills, with the ability to convey information to clinical and non-clinical audiences.
  • Good organisational and time management skills with ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
  • Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
  • High level independent clinical skills and judgement, with sound decision-making and problem solving, and willingness to learn independently.
  • Previous experience in and willingness to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training.
  • Applicable vaccination requirements for a Category A role; Working With Children Check (WWCC); Current AHPRA Registration; Valid NSW Driver's Licence.
