Overview

Post-Graduate Fellow – 0.84 FTE Temporary until 6 February 2028 - Haematology Clinical Trials and Research I ISLHD at NSW Health.

The Haematology Trials Fellow will develop expertise in the diagnosis and management of haematological disorders, with exposure to clinical research and clinical trials. You will work collaboratively with patients, scientific staff, and other health professionals from public and private health services to achieve high quality service provision to patients. You will be responsible for understanding, reviewing, and implementing treatment protocols, quality monitoring requirements including clinical audit and critical reviews. You will provide routine and urgent medical assessment and clinical care to Haematology patients being screened and participating in clinical trials as a certified investigator within the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District. Depending on accreditation, duties will include screening and provision of care to clinical trials patients in Wollongong Private Hospital.

Responsibilities
  • Understand, review, and implement treatment protocols and quality monitoring requirements including clinical audit and critical reviews.
  • Provide routine and urgent medical assessment and clinical care to Haematology patients being screened and participating in clinical trials as a certified investigator within ISLHD.
  • Screen and provide care to clinical trials patients in Wollongong Private Hospital where accreditation allows.
Requirements
  • Applicable vaccination requirements for a Category A role.
  • Working With Children Check (WWCC).
  • Current AHPRA Registration.
  • Valid NSW Drivers Licence.

Selection Criteria
  • MBBS or equivalent, registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate category, with FRACP/FRCPA or FRACP or international equivalent for Haematology.
  • A passion for collaboration in the clinical research endeavour.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team in planning, delivery and coordination of patient care.
  • High level communication skills to convey and adapt information to clinical and non-clinical audiences.
  • Good organisational and time management skills; ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
  • Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
  • Independent clinical skills and judgement, with ability to make sound decisions and learn independently.
  • Experience and willingness to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training.
