City of Monash is a dynamic organisation committed to providing excellence in service delivery. Located in the eastern region, Monash is a cosmopolitan and culturally diverse city, close to the demographic centre of Melbourne.

We are currently seeking an Events Officer to join a small but dynamic team within the Arts and Libraries Branch. The branch includes Festivals and Events, Creative Industries, the Museum of Australian Photography, and the Monash Public Library Service.

About the Position

This Events Cultural Development Officer role involves designing and delivering events and programs that promote social connection, participation, health, and wellbeing, reflecting the cultural vitality of the Monash community, at the intersection of festivals, events, and creative industries.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Experience in creating community cultural development events and activities
  • Extensive experience in designing, developing, and delivering outdoor community events within a safe, compliant event and risk management framework, preferably in local government
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, internal and external stakeholders, program partners, and networks
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Experience in managing project budgets and understanding of local government procurement and contract management

  • Other pre-employment checks as required
  • Level II First Aid certification
