Job DescriptionThe Senior Policy Analyst / Advisor – Government Relations will develop policy positions on topics such as the tertiary education legislative framework, international education, and student visa policy. Responsibilities include conducting research, supporting evidence-based advocacy, and representing Navitas at sector and political forums.
Reporting to the Head of Strategic Engagement and Government Relations, key duties include:
- Analyzing government policy impacts on the company's operations and objectives.
- Assisting in developing the company's government relations strategy.
- Creating advocacy plans for government relations campaigns.
- Building and maintaining relationships with government officials, peak bodies, and policy influencers.
- Preparing submissions for government reviews and legislation, collaborating with stakeholders to shape Navitas' policy positions.
- Working across the organization to promote initiatives that attract government support.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A relevant degree with substantial experience, or extensive experience and expertise in tertiary education or complex regulatory environments.
- Knowledge of the Australian tertiary education sector, policies, and emerging trends.
- Experience in producing high-quality policy documents, briefings, and research.
- Proven ability to advise senior leaders and develop strategic relationships.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Commercial acumen with creative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively to develop policy reform strategies.
