School General Maintenance

Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) is one of Australia's largest autism-specific service providers, with one of the biggest autism-specific school programs in the world. Part-time maintenance person — 16 hours per week, 4 days per week (4 hours per day).

We seek self-motivated applicants who possess good communication skills and can work unsupervised, as well as part of a team. Undertake maintenance and repair work to the school buildings and grounds to ensure it is a safe environment for the school community. View the Position Profile for details.

• Ensure building systems and machines run smoothly e.g. air conditioning, pumps
• Undertake repair/maintenance work as required to school buildings e.g. replacing locks, windows & light bulbs, patching holes, woodwork repairs
• Perform routine maintenance of equipment
• Estimate repair costs and document repairs undertaken
• Handle, store, and distribute goods/materials
• Move equipment/furniture as required
• Upkeep school grounds e.g. mowing, pruning, weeding, planting, disposing of litter
• Assist with school improvements e.g. fencing, paving, gardening projects
• Complete daily grounds maintenance reports
• Train new employees in groundskeeping duties
• Drive school vehicles as required

Aspect Riverina School is situated in a beautiful inner city centre location with charming buildings and recently renovated facilities. The school proudly provides placement for approximately 100 students on the autism spectrum from ages 4 to 17 from Albury, as well as from 4 satellite classes within the Catholic and Department of Education schools in Albury and Wagga Wagga. What we are looking for:

• Experience in general maintenance of grounds/buildings
• Knowledge of electrical, plumbing and general trade maintenance
• Understanding of machinery/equipment operation relating to building maintenance
• Ability to work unsupervised as well as part of a team
• Excellent communication skills
• Trade background is desirable
• Current driver's licence and use of own vehicle
• Current NSW Working with Children Check for paid employment
• You may be required to provide an International Police Check clearance

• The rate for this role is $33.73 per hour + superannuation

This position is covered by the Independent Schools NSW (Professional and Operational Staff) Cooperative Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2025.
