Clinical Nurse Specialist/NMP CAMHS Looked After and Adoption – Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
The closing date is 16 September 2025
We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and innovative individual to work as a Clinical Nurse Specialist/ NMP in the CAMHS Children Looked after and Adoption team. This team supports children and young people up to 18 years old who are looked after or adopted and may be living away from their birth parents, in the care of Nottinghamshire County Council. The post involves assessment and co-ordination of ongoing support to children and young people accepted into the service from social workers, who may be in and out of the county along with Adoption East Midlands and adoptive parents. Young people may also make referrals themselves. The role requires close collaboration with the MDT, in particular the Consultant psychiatrist. It is not an essential requirement for the post holder to already hold the NMP training/status; it is an expectation that the successful candidate will undertake this training and balance it within their role, offering a balance of consultation, assessment and direct work.
The post holder will promote and develop clinical excellence within the team to enhance the mental and emotional well-being of children and young people within Nottinghamshire through sound evidence-based approaches, with a trauma-informed approach at all times.
Main duties of the jobOur core purpose is to work with children and young people who are looked after and adopted within Nottinghamshire, and their families/carers, who may be experiencing emotional and mental health disorders that impact development and cause distress. We aim to provide an integrated, high-quality, multi-disciplinary county-wide service to improve the mental health of all children and young people.
We work with children and young people up to 18 years old who are looked after and living away from their birth parents, in the care of Nottinghamshire Children's Services. They may be living with foster carers or in residential care. We also offer specialist consultation and support to adopted children and their families, with a highly specialised team supporting consultation, assessment and treatment to ensure a trauma-informed approach and training is offered to networks in various contexts, and direct work with young people to prevent placement breakdown and hospital stays. We aim to provide networks and young people with a clear narrative and understanding of what the young person is experiencing, and to ensure education and support around trauma and attachment and their lasting impact.
About us#TeamNottsHC comprises over 11,000 dedicated colleagues who #MakeADifference daily. We deliver mental health and community health services across Nottinghamshire and neighbouring areas, with care provided from over 200 sites including community locations, acute settings and secure environments.
We are one of the largest mental health and community Trusts in the East Midlands and one of Nottinghamshire's biggest employers. We host national and regional services such as the National High Secure Deaf Service and the Nottingham Centre for Transgender Health. We offer employee-led networks including Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), Green Champions, Freedom to Speak Up, Health and Wellbeing Champions, and Menopause Champions networks. We invest in staff wellbeing through in-house occupational health and counselling services and a Health and Wellbeing team. The Trust is committed to reducing carbon emissions with an Energy and Environmental team to support environmental compliance and net-zero targets.
