About Primary Connect+
Primary Connect+ is a technology-driven, retailer-agnostic commercial business within Primary Connect, providing end-to-end supply chain solutions for over 1,300 food and retail customers.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Head of Network Development PC+, the Senior Transport Network Development Manager plays a critical role in strategic planning and optimisation of our transport network to improve supply chain efficiencies. This role focuses on building relationships and collaborating with carrier and network partners, emphasizing safety, teamwork, and value creation. It drives continuous improvement to ensure the network is efficient, cost-effective, resilient, and aligned with business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and nurture relationships with transport carriers and network partners, prioritizing safety, teamwork, and value creation.
- Collaborate with carrier partners to develop optimized network and transport solutions that enhance supply chain efficiency and reduce costs.
- Manage network changes and assess operational and commercial impacts, including new distribution centers or range adjustments.
- Own the strategic engagement model for new carriers based on needs identified within the development pipeline.
- Position Primary Connect+ as a knowledge-based, technology-driven supply chain solutions provider.
- Work with Business Development and Account Management teams to support network development for existing and new customers.
Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive experience in senior transport or supply chain roles, preferably within FMCG, retail, or 3PL sectors.
- Advanced knowledge of transport legislation, equipment design, network flows, and pricing and costing methodologies (Road & Rail).
- Proven success in relationship management and stakeholder engagement, with the ability to align multiple stakeholders.
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
