Your Position :

Burwood Council is seeking a Driver / Labourer to join our Civil team to carry out asphalt, concreting, drainage, and other capital and maintenance-related works. You will be required to work as part of a team that delivers quality service to the residents and business owners of Burwood.

Your responsibilities will include :

  • Carrying out all tasks associated with the maintenance and construction of Council's infrastructure, including footpaths, driveways, curb & gutter, stormwater pits, pram ramps, and roads.
  • Reporting defects in any Council assets, including those not within your immediate area of responsibility.
  • Working as a member of a team undertaking duties such as labouring, pipe laying, concreting, hot mix laying, and drain cleaning.
  • Using hand tools, chainsaws, air-operated tools.
  • Conducting duties such as working to levels, string lines, measuring accurately, graffiti removal, and rubbish removal.

To be successful in this role you will have :

  • Class MR Licence (or willingness to obtain).
  • WHS Construction Induction certificate (White Card).
  • Experience in all tasks associated with construction of footpaths, drainage pits & pipes, driveways, reinforced road slabs, street and park furniture.
  • Experience in laying asphalt road and footpath pavements.
  • Traffic Controller Certificate and ability to implement Traffic Control Plans (or willingness to obtain these qualifications).
