The Head Chef at The Hangar is responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations - from menu development and food quality to staff training, cost control, and delivering exceptional dining and function experiences. ABOUT THE ROLE

As our Head Chef, you will:

  • Lead and inspire a small, close-knit kitchen team
  • Design, cost, and deliver seasonal menus aligned with our Modern Australian style
  • Oversee all kitchen operations, including stock control, ordering, rostering, and budgeting
  • Maintain the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and food safety compliance
  • Support and mentor junior chefs to grow their skills
  • Work closely with the Venue Manager and FOH team to deliver seamless dining and function experiences
  • Be available to work weekends, late nights, and public holidays as required

ABOUT YOURSELF

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef in a busy, high-quality venue
  • A creative and trendy approach to menu design, with a focus on balancing quality, cost and customer appeal
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, food cost control, and driving kitchen performance to achieve sales targets
  • A positive, hands-on attitude and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Excellent organisational and operational skills
