About the Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Plastics Trade Assistant to join our Smithfield team. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting and testing production machines within a small team. Your mechanical aptitude, commitment to safety, experience with plastic piping, and pride in your craft to deliver high-quality work will be key to your success.

What will you do?

1. Operate and care for equipment, ensuring proper maintenance according to the Trade Assistant PM schedule.
2. Communicate any non-conforming components to the department manager promptly.
3. Ensure all work complies with Vinidex standards.
4. Complete and update required paperwork.
5. Support and participate in preventative maintenance initiatives.
6. Work as part of a team to foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
7. Collaborate with other functions across the site to support an engaged operational workplace.
8. Adhere to all health and safety regulations, performing duties safely.

About you

• Experience with plastic/steel pipes or as a trade assistant operating tools and machinery.
• Proficient with hand and power tools such as saws, drills, etc.
• Excellent spatial awareness, mechanical aptitude, with attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
• Commitment to safety procedures and risk awareness.
• Good decision-making skills, highly organized, and effective time management.
• Flexible, adaptable, with a positive attitude, able to work independently or in a team, and available for overtime or additional duties.
• Australian Resident or Permanent Resident with full working rights.
