About the role:
The role will be a full-time police officer position within the South Australia Police. You will be joining a team who truly makes a difference enabling safer communities in South Australia. We are seeking people with varied life experiences and cultural backgrounds, which reflect the diversity of our community. First Nations people and people with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

After successfully completing your training you will be part of a team who provide frontline services to the community, which will include mobile patrols to prevent and detect crime, maintaining law and order and undertaking an active role in traffic policing and road safety campaigns.
Some of the key tasks you will perform in this role include:
- Preventing, detecting and investigating offences in areas such as street offences, family violence, traffic, drugs and alcohol.
- Securing and examining crime scenes and accidents to locate and obtain evidence.
- Maintaining public safety.
- General Patrols in identified areas to minimise the potential for public disturbance and crime.
- Investigating accidents, crimes, minor offences and public complaints.
- Gathering evidence and investigating, arresting and interviewing suspects.
- Testing persons suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs and issuing infringement notices for traffic offences.
- Directing and controlling traffic at congested areas.
- Attending at community engagement events.
- Providing advice and assistance to victims of crime and their families.
- Maintaining records and preparing reports.
- Attending court.
Upon permanent appointment the rate of remuneration will be based on an assessment of prior service. Recruits with demonstrated police experience may be appointed at a level commensurate with their expertise, up to the rank of Senior Constable. The expected salary range will be $96,000-$112,000, inclusive of shift penalties and depending on experience and classification. To serve as a South Australian Police Officer, you must be:
- 18 years or older at the time of application.
- An Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident.
- Able to meet medical, fitness and psychometric requirements.
