About us

Canteen is all about supporting young people and their families affected by cancer. Founded by young cancer patients, we offer programs and resources that truly make a difference for 12-25 year-olds facing their own diagnosis, supporting a loved one, or grieving. Together, we believe our team can create real change.

We are now seeking a Receptionist - National Office, who will play a pivotal role in managing reception and assisting with office administration at Canteen's National Office in Sydney. The Receptionist represents Canteen in a polite and professional manner, responds to enquiries via email, phone and in person, and performs administrative functions including travel bookings, expense reconciliations and internal event planning.

About our role
  • Providing a friendly, professional welcome to all visitors at Canteen's National Office
  • Answering all phone and email enquiries in a polite and helpful manner
  • Responding calmly to distressed callers and directing these to appropriate staff
  • Processing credit card expenses and invoices
  • Booking flights and hotels for Canteen staff and other stakeholders
  • Ensuring a seamless courier and mail service for the National Office
  • Managing orders of stationery and office consumables
  • Organising staff social events and other events held in the National Office
  • Coordinating building and office equipment repairs and maintenance
  • Scheduling biannual emergency warden training and evacuation procedures
  • Ensuring the office is kept clean and presentable at all times
  • Assisting with projects and ad hoc requests as they arise
About you
  • 1 - 2 years' experience in a similar position
  • Demonstrated administration or customer service experience
  • Ability to respond calmly to distressed callers
  • Experienced with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Willing to undertake First Aid and Emergency Warden training
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks
  • Excellent attention to detail. A high level of confidentiality, honesty, and commitment
  • A proactive and positive attitude with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges
  • Warm, compassionate, and friendly approach to supporting our young people
