Educational Leader

We are currently recruiting for an Educational Leader to join our team at YMCA Wavell Heights Outside School Hours Care (OSHC), opening in January 2025. This is a permanent, part-time position.

About the role

As the Educational Leader, you will lead the development and implementation of the education program, promoting children's well-being, development, and learning. You will help children develop values, attitudes, and ways of living and learning by providing high-quality care, activities, and educational elements, managing and promoting a team environment, and working within the YMCA of Brisbane Long Day Care services' philosophy, policies, and procedures.

What will my time look like?

• Lead the development and implementation of the educational program and assessment with support from Assistant Coordinator / Coordinator.
• Ensure children's learning and development inform the educational program design, and that Educators facilitate and extend each child's learning and development.
• Liaise effectively with parents, staff, and all internal and external stakeholders.
• Make recommendations for improvements to educators' educational programs and practices.
• Mentor and support educators in understanding the educational program and practice, including reflection on effectiveness, interactions, intentional teaching, and other strategies.
• Ensure compliance with policies.
• Undertake administrative requirements.
• Work collaboratively with families and the school community.

Am I a good match?

• Hold a Diploma in Children's Services or equivalent and demonstrate experience in Early Childhood Education.
• Have sound experience in an Early Childhood Education and Care setting.
• Possess comprehensive knowledge of the approved learning framework.
• Demonstrate ability to coach and mentor others.
• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Possess a comprehensive understanding of child development, attachment, and learning.
• Understand evidence-based best practice approaches to teaching and learning.
• Have working knowledge of leadership theories and styles.
• Possess well-developed critical thinking skills, including the ability to analyze and challenge conventional practices and ideas.
• Hold current First Aid and CPR Certification.
• Possess or be willing to obtain a Blue Card.
