About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented compliance professional to join our Advocacy and Professional Standards team as the Investigations & Disciplinary Administrator on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This pivotal role ensures that IPA upholds the highest standards of ethical and professional behaviour of its members.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the end-to-end assurance and compliance function, including complaints investigation, disciplinary processes, and regulatory reporting as needed. This position plays a key role in safeguarding the integrity of the IPA and the broader accounting profession by ensuring members meet their professional obligations and by responding appropriately when standards are not met.

Key Accountabilities
  • Complaint management: conduct initial assessments to determine if complaints fall within the scope of the IPA's jurisdiction; liaise with complainants and members to gather additional information where needed; manage investigation of complaints; maintaining accurate records; preparing detailed reports and recommendations.
  • Disciplinary Processes: Act as Executive Officer to the IPA Disciplinary Tribunal, administer disciplinary processes based on investigation outcomes; coordinating hearings, preparing case files, liaising with panel members, arrange transcription services, maintain records, and provide support in applying disciplinary sanctions.
  • Compliance: ensure that complaints and investigations are handled in line with by-laws, code of ethics and professional standards.
  • Administrative tasks: maintain accurate and secure case files and logs, draft and issue formal correspondence and ensure policy compliance.
Skills & Qualities
  • Ability to critically assess and analyse complaints and evidence.
  • Understanding of professional regulation or disciplinary frameworks (preferably in accountancy).
  • High level of discretion and professionalism.
  • Excellent communication, report writing and organisational skills.
Background
  • Experience in regulatory bodies, complaints department or professional associations.
  • Would suit candidates with a background in paralegal work, compliance administration, investigations, or governance.
