In addition, we provide comprehensive 24/7/365 support and monitoring services.
For our growing Australian team of five people, we are looking for a determined and autonomous System Engineer who supports our customers with expertise in Linux cluster solutions, container platforms, automation tools, databases, and collaboration solutions.
TasksAs a System Engineer, you work on customer projects, solve engineering challenges, and support our customers in Europe and ASIA Pacific as part of our managed services team.
Your task and duties will include:
- provisioning, maintaining, configuring, and upgrading Linux server systems and/or cloud-managed services and applications
- debugging and troubleshooting Linux server systems and/or cloud systems, providing in-depth technical support and assistance
- solving specialized issues and eliminating the causes of malfunctions, if necessary in cooperation with software suppliers
- analyzing monitoring events, identifying performance bottlenecks, and taking measures to optimize operations
- creating main components of technical documentation from scratch
- coordinating the collaboration with the customer and participating in meetings
Must-Have Hard Skills
- You have at least two years of work experience as a system engineer in a Linux-centric environment.
- You have good knowledge in current open-source technologies as well as Cloud and DevOps customer journeys and/or enterprise IT requirements (e.g., IAM, Web/App Servers, Collaboration, Groupware, Database, SAP/HANA, Virtualization, Containers, Linux Clustering, Systems Management).
- You have a good working knowledge of computer science fundamentals (e.g., compilers, linkers, and interpreters; lower 4 OSI layers / TCP/IP stack)
- You can write code that includes basic error handling routines such as catching and displaying error messages or logging errors for further analysis.
- You can fix existing automations and write and implement new ones that execute simple changes (e.g., account deletion) and are triggered by the system.
Must Have Soft Skills
- You work effectively with others toward a common goal, participate constructively in joint efforts, and foster a supportive and trusting work environment.
- You work thoroughly and diligently, are dependable, take responsibility for your actions and decisions, and strive for error-free, high-quality results.
- You analyze complex situations, detect unwanted deviations, and develop viable solutions based on critical thinking, data analysis, and rational judgment.
- You utilize your resources and consciously regulate your efforts to achieve and maintain high levels of productivity.
- You anticipate, prepare, and establish a systematic course of action to achieve goals and objectives while ensuring the effective and efficient use of available resources.
- You deliver high-quality services and solutions to customers that meet their needs and expectations while aligning with the company's goals and interests.
Nice-to-Haves
- You have experience with GitLab, HashiCorp, RedHat and/or SUSE products
- You have GitLab, HashiCorp, Red Hat and/or SUSE certifications.
- You have AWS, Azure and/or GCP certifications.
- We offer a fair and competitive salary.
- Our company DNA revolves around an open-source mindset. Contributions are welcome and encouraged.
- We foster the professional growth and development of our team members, invest in training and certifications, and offer the opportunity to travel to conferences.
- You can work with the Linux distribution and toolset of your choice. Doesn't matter if you like Emacs or Vim, we will find both common ground and reasons for discussion.
- We have efficient decision-making processes and flexible work models, including the ability to work from home.
Are you interested? Then David Grolimund and his team will be happy to review your application. We are looking forward to getting to know you
