About the Role

The Team Leader - Youth Support provides leadership, supervision and guidance to Youth Workers and teams (including multi-disciplinary and/or specialist staff) to ensure best practice and quality outcomes for young people, their families and communities.

The Team Leader will also work closely with the Program Manager to provide strategic leadership and support for metropolitan networks and projects.

This position will supervise youth workers and teams within the Youth Support Portfolio who engage in youth support activities including, but not limited to, one on one youth support, family work, group work, school-based work, youth development and leadership opportunities, mentoring and volunteer programs. However, as an agile role, this designation may change over time as the organisations strategic priorities and stakeholders needs shift.   • Hours: 30.4 hours per week (0.8 FTE), Part Time
  • Fixed Term: until 30 June 2026
  • Base Salary (SCHADS Level 6): $110,102.72 per annum (pro rata) plus Super and access to Salary Packaging (Salary Packaging is a great way to increase the value of your salary by allowing you to receive a portion of your income in the form of tax free or tax-deductible benefits.)
  • Location: Carlton, Dandenong and Sunshine

You will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in the supervision of staff including leading and delivering youth focused services and supporting and supervising individuals and teams that deliver casework and support activities to young people.
  • Experience working with young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds and an understanding of issues affecting newly arrived young people, with an ability to identify issues of concern using a holistic and strengths-based approach.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and communicate with diverse stakeholders including with young people, other agencies, government departments, community groups and organisations.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills including well-developed organisational and analytical skills, and the ability to plan and manage an effective work program and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated understanding of risk assessment, including child safety and family violence and how these relate to working with multicultural young people.
  • Extensive experience in implementing a youth centred approach to service delivery.
  • Highly computer literate across the MS Office suite applications, data management tools and virtual office tools.
