Purpose

An exciting opportunity for a Design Assistant to join the Country Road Childrenswear team, supporting the design team with product samples, administration, fit, storyboards, and range concepts. The role ensures the quality of apparel is maintained throughout development and production stages.

  • Please note that this is a 10-month FTC, and you must be available to start within a few weeks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the design team to develop range concepts.
  • Attend fittings to ensure the continuation of the style development process.
  • Participate in all fit meetings and related discussions impacting range development.
  • Select trims for the range, to be signed off by the Designer, ensuring brand consistency.
  • Design and source creative concepts for pre-sell or sell presentations, maintaining clarity and consistency.
  • Develop monthly storyboards focusing on mood and colour themes.
  • Source and develop fabrics.
  • Liaise with suppliers to monitor development, availability, lead times, and costs.

Key Capabilities

  • A tertiary qualification in Fashion or Textiles is preferred.
  • Experience with illustration software packages.
  • Experience in a similar design-led role within a fashion business is beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills to build relationships internally and externally.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
