OverviewThe North Queensland Region - Student, Child and Family Connect team are seeking a dedicated Student Support Officer based in Mount Isa. As a Student Support Officer you will support students and their families to address the barriers of school attendance to improve education engagement.

The Student Support Officer Role Includes- Liaising with school leadership and support teams to identify students who have or are at risk of disengaging from education, working collaboratively to develop an engagement plan.
- Conducting home visits and working with families to identify the barriers to school attendance and facilitating reengagement.
- Connecting young people and families to school and/or community based supports where indvidual needs (including educational, social, emotional or behavioural) are identified.
- Working within a team based, case management approach as a contact for students, families or community members regarding educational engagement.
- Develop innovative and effective strategies for building relationships with students, families, community members and stakeholder groups within the community to support school engagement.
- The ability to work independently and part of a team, who is a self-starter and demonstrates initiative in their work.
- Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable children and young people.
- Strength in building and sustaining positive working relationships with students, parents and community agencies.
- Demonstrated or transferrable skills necessary to reconnect young people and families with education and support school engagement.
