The opportunity:

Join our Visy Paper Mill 8 team in Gibson Island, Queensland, one of five Visy Recycle Pulp & Paper mills located across Australia. This is a

  • Fulltime Permanent position
  • Rotating roster of day and night shifts
  • Day: 6am - 6pm, Nights 6pm - 6am
  • Roster: 4 on, 5 off, 4 on

As a Production Operator, you will play a vital role, operating a Paper Machine and its ancillary equipment to meet agreed production, service and quality standards. Reporting to the Production manager your key responsibilities will include:

  • Being fully conversant on all aspects of machine operation including winding and finishing, quality processes and systems.
  • Ensuring equipment is correctly maintained and maintenance is performed regularly.
  • Maintain safe work and operating practices, and a high level of housekeeping at all times.
  • Regularly review work processes and assist in identifying improvements.

What you will bring to the team:

As our new Paper Machine Operator, you will have prior experience, operating machinery within an industrial/manufacturing environment. You have a positive attitude, strong work ethic and the ability to work well as a team and independently. You have good written and communication skills and processes a strong focus on Health, Safety and Environmental practices. Along with the following:

  • A mechanical aptitude is essential, and a trade/ technical qualification is highly regarded.
  • Qualifications – HNC Paper Technology would be a distinct advantage.
  • Ability to work a 12-hour rotating roster
  • Experience operating a forklift and hold a current forklift licence, is desirable.
  • A problem solver with good attention to detail and an eye for accuracy.
  • Proven ability to work in a physically demanding and fast paced environment.
