Assistant Project Officer, Water Management – NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ)
Location: Parramatta, with flexible/hybrid work options
Employment Type: Temporary full-time up to 12 months
Salary range: $99,938 – $110,271 per annum, plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading
About the team: The Vacated Accounts Management Team (VAMT) is part of the Service Delivery Assurance Hub (SDAH) within Homes NSW. VAMT reconciles accounts for vacated tenants across Housing Services, supports refund processing and debt recovery in compliance with Treasury Directions and the Public Finance and Audit Act, and oversees water management for Homes NSW.
Your roleAs the Assistant Project Officer, Water Management, you will oversee the review and resolution of water charges and disputes, liaising with water authorities, managing investigations and reporting on water-related matters. You will oversee end-to-end processing of water charge issues and provide accurate and timely information to Homes NSW operations teams.
What You'll Do- Provide project and operational support, including monitoring, reviewing and managing disputes related to water charges.
- Liaise with stakeholders including Water Authorities.
- Update and collate documentation and records related to water charges, policies and practices to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Communicate updates regarding water charge status and implementation issues with relevant stakeholders.
- Provide secretariat and administrative services to support water management delivery.
You will be expected to navigate a dynamic high-volume environment with competing priorities and tight deadlines. Success requires:
- The ability to identify and respond to risks quickly and effectively
- Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills
- A commitment to delivering high-quality reviews compliant with policy and procedure
Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with proficiency in managing high-volume end-to-end investigations, while maintaining accurate tracking and detailed reporting to ensure progress.
You Will Also Demonstrate- A thorough understanding of tenancy management and housing policies is highly recommended.
- Sound decision-making and collaboration to achieve effective outcomes.
- Strong written and verbal communication to prepare reports and respond to stakeholders.
- Experience using DCJ IT systems (Homes and the current maintenance system) is valued but not essential; training will be provided.
