Starting February 2026, our program provides professional development training and on-the-job experience pathways, designed to smoothly transition you from academic study into the workplace. As a graduate at the City, you will benefit from:

What's on offer

As a graduate in our team, you will have the opportunity to work across three of the City's biodiversity conservation teams, Strategic Environmental Policy, Priority Species Conservation, and Biodiversity Data and Mapping. While working across these teams, you will learn about and contribute to the following work programs:

  • Delivery of projects related to conservation of the City's priority species.
  • Field surveys for a range of priority flora and fauna species, including the koala.
  • Development of environmental policy and projects related to the City's planning scheme.
  • Management and input of data for the City's flora and fauna database.
  • Provision of environmental advice for City infrastructure projects.

Who can apply?

To be considered for this opportunity you must hold a recognised bachelor's degree or post graduate qualification from a tertiary institution, completed within the last two years or be completing prior to the commencement of the program in February 2026. Applicants must have full working rights in Australia for the duration of the program and be able to work full-time.

The Graduate Conservation Policy Officer welcomes graduates who have studied Bachelor of Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Master of Environmental Science, Environmental Management; and related fields.
