• Arrangement A base salary: $378,151 – $448,030 p.a., 12% employer-contributed superannuation and professional development allowance $34,696 p.a.
• Renumeration: MP Year 1–6 $575,277 – $684,457 p.a.*

This is an External Expression of Interest to fill a Fixed Term – Full-Time appointment.

This is a 4.5-month appointment with the possibility of extension(s).

Appointment commencing 1 December 2025 through to 17 April 2026.

Role and Responsibilities

Based in Broome, the Consultant in Public Health Medicine will support the Public Health Manager, lead the disease control team, and guide strategies to protect and improve the health of the Kimberley population. You will provide public health and clinical medical expertise in the identification and management of communicable and non-communicable diseases, and other emerging public health issues. You will coordinate outbreak investigations and interventions, and collaborate with Aboriginal health staff and community-controlled health organisations to design programs that reflect local priorities. The role may involve work across other hospitals and clinics within the Kimberley region.

The position emphasizes Indigenous health, remote service delivery, and cross-disciplinary collaboration in a multi-disciplinary team. Responsibilities include managing notifications of infectious diseases and addressing conditions prevalent in the region, such as rheumatic heart disease, leprosy, melioidosis, and flaviviruses.

Eligibility - Ideal Candidates Must Demonstrate The Following

• Unconditional general and specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
• Fellowship of the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine (FAFPHM), or recognised equivalent.
• Willing to apply for a Medicare Provider Number.
• Willingness to be based in Broome for the duration of the contract.
• Current C Class driver's Licence and ability to travel, including overnight stays away from home.
• Adaptable, culturally respectful, and committed to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal communities in the Kimberley.
