Details: Bimberi Youth Justice Centre is seeking a highly motivated individual with excellent research, analytical and communication skills to join the team as Intelligence and Classification Officer.

The Intelligence and Classification Officer is a key role that provides support to youth justice operations through the collection, collation, analysis and dissemination of timely, accurate and relevant intelligence information to inform the safe and secure operations of the Centre. The Intelligence and Classifications Officer is also responsible for conducting classification risk assessments and reviews on young people in Bimberi Youth Justice Centre.

The Intelligence and Classification Officer will contribute to research, analysis and implementation of strategies and methodologies to improve the effectiveness of Bimberi, in compliance with government legislation and Directorate policies and procedures and to keep up to date with changes. The role is also responsible for the collection and analysis of operational information to inform the management of young people in detention.

The role is focussed on delivering the best possible outcomes for children and young people through responsive client service underpinned by trauma informed best practice.

Compliance Requirements / Qualifications

  • Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP). Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under theWorking with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required.   • This position does require a Senior First Aid Certificate.

Highly desirable qualifications and experience:

  • Experience in a detention environment.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications e.g: in Intelligence Analysis, Social Work, Psychology, Social Welfare, Social Science or related discipline.
  • 2 years' experience working with children, youth and / or families
  • Must actively participate on the on-call manager's roster.

Notes: An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months. As this role will work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and families, cultural awareness, the capacity to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is required.
