Overview

Advisor, Health & Safety (Maternity Leave Position) at Thiess. This fixed-term or secondment opportunity covers parental leave for 6 months, working an 8/6 roster at the Lake Vermont project (19 kms north of Dysart). The role supports the maintenance and effectiveness of the site's Safety and Health Management System, with a focus on occupational health, injury management and hygiene matters. You will report to the project Health, Safety & Training Manager and provide coordination and technical advice related to health, injury management and hygiene matters.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate functional safety issues and maintain relevant records and reports
  • Lead the injury management process and coordinate workplace injury rehabilitation and illness
  • Drive a strong safety culture and collaborate with other departments to achieve safety objectives
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety laws, regulations and statutory obligations
  • Assist with Workplace Risk Assessments and Incident Investigations
  • Conduct on-site D&A testing
  • Align health and injury management processes with company policies and procedures
  • Support Return-to-Work processes with proactive health management plans
  • Coordinate hygiene exposure monitoring programs and health promotion initiatives
  • Contribute to health-related program development for the Lake Vermont workforce
Qualifications
  • Genuine passion for the safety and health of front-line personnel
  • Tertiary qualification in Health & Safety
  • Relevant certifications: S1, S2, S3, G2 and Standard 11
  • Experience in injury management and return-to-work coordination
  • Ability to facilitate ICAM investigations and perform risk assessments
  • Strong stakeholder relationship skills
  • Proficient computer skills
