Advisor, Health & Safety - Curragh North

About the Role

As a Health and Safety Advisor at the Curragh North Open Cut project, you will support the Health and Safety team, working closely with on-site staff and leadership across all departments. Your role involves planning, coordinating, and resolving health and safety challenges in compliance with legislative and company standards.

Reporting to the Health, Safety & Training Superintendent, your responsibilities include implementing safety systems, managing incidents, and ensuring compliance. You will collaborate with stakeholders including subcontractors, WorkCover Queensland, clients, and regulatory bodies to uphold high safety standards.

The project is located 30 km from Blackwater, Central QLD, with an 8/6 roster. Key duties include:

  • Coordinate health and safety issues, maintaining records and reports.
  • Implement and coordinate injury management processes.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and liaise with departments and stakeholders to meet safety objectives.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant legislation and obligations.

About You

  • Passion for supporting worker health and safety.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Health & Safety.
  • G1, G8, G9 (Formally S123), and G2 certifications.
  • Experience with ICAM facilitation and investigations, root cause analysis.
  • Ability to conduct workplace risk assessments.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe.
  • Experience in injury management and workplace rehabilitation.
  • Document control and governance system experience is desirable.
