Commissioning Manager - Substations & Transmission Lines
Location: Sydney, NSW

We are partnering with a major joint venture in the renewable energy and infrastructure sector to recruit a highly experienced Commissioning Manager. This is a senior leadership role, based in Sydney, with travel to project sites as works progress.

About The Role

On behalf of our client, we are seeking a skilled Commissioning Manager to lead and manage commissioning activities across large-scale transmission and substation projects. Reporting to project leadership, you will oversee commissioning of substations, transmission lines, ancillary support buildings, and associated power technologies. The role requires a proven leader with the ability to manage direct staff and subcontractors, while ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, on budget, and to specification.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all commissioning activities for substations, transmission lines, and related assets
  • Manage commissioning teams and specialist subcontractors across multiple project stages
  • Ensure testing and commissioning activities comply with WHS, quality, and environmental requirements
  • Provide effective technical planning, design support, and reporting for commissioning works
  • Drive project delivery to meet time, cost, scope, and safety obligations
  • Oversee the preparation of commissioning plans, documentation, and handover processes
  • Liaise closely with construction, environmental, and commercial teams to ensure integrated project delivery
  • Champion a strong safety culture and compliance across all site and office activities
About You
  • Extensive experience in commissioning large-scale, complex electrical infrastructure projects
  • Strong background in HV substations and transmission lines commissioning
  • Proven leadership of multi-disciplinary teams and subcontractors on major projects
  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering or relevant discipline
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Sound commercial, contractual, and risk management knowledge
  • Demonstrated success in delivering projects to safety, quality, time, and cost objectives
