The Starts at 60 group is seeking an experienced Financial Manager with prior experience in the travel industry to oversee our financial operations, administration, and reporting as we continue to grow.

This role reports to the CEO and supports the Executive team.

The position will oversee our three operating businesses:

  • Starts at 60 - Media platform
  • Travel Central – Online Travel Business

Your role will be crucial in driving the performance and growth of these businesses and guiding financial operations at all levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the daily financial operations across the Group.
  • Coordinate and process the fortnightly payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Support Human Resources with administrative duties, including record-keeping and documentation management.
  • Monitor and manage banking activities, including transactions, approvals, and reconciliations.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions to ensure timely and accurate processing.
  • Prepare and deliver accurate monthly financial reports and management accounts.
  • Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts to support business planning and liquidity management.
  • Ensure timely submission of all compliance obligations, including IAS, BAS, Superannuation, and Payroll Tax.
  • Liaise with external service providers for tax, audits, banking, and financial services.
  • Monitor financial performance, identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to minimise financial risks.
  • Stay current with technological advancements and best practices in accounting and finance.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and legislation.
  • Collaborate with senior management on strategic and operational planning.
  • Attend to all insurance requirements.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting, including variance analysis and reporting.

Education and Experience:

  • Advanced degree in accounting, business, economics, finance, or related field
  • CA or CPA qualification (preferred)
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Travel industry experience (preferred)
  • 3-5 years in finance, 2+ years as a Financial Manager
  • Xero experience (advantage)
  • Experience in employee management and data privacy standards
  • Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills
  • Integrity and honesty
