The Role

As a Home Economic Assistant, you support the teaching and learning of students through assisting the Home Economics teacher in delivering educational programs and encouraging a supportive and inclusive environment.

At this level you would be working under direct supervision to complete simple tasks within established routines, methods, and procedures. These tasks may involve assisting with operation of computers, giving demonstrations to small groups or individuals, purchasing, preparation and maintenance of ingredients, equipment, materials and resources used in classes (including clean and safe storage), and some cleaning duties as required within the home economics learning area.

You may also be required to help with care and supervision of students during out of class activities or excursions, including general duty of care for students wellbeing up to providing minor first aid.

Eligibility

• be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
• obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
• consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.

    • Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs to students.
