Comprehensive salary package from $68,864 pa (plus superannuation)

Required Skills and Experience :

  • At least an AQF certificate II or III in Agriculture (or equivalent)
  • At least one (1) year of recent and relevant work experience

Position Summary :

On behalf of our client, Global Skilled Employment Services is looking for a skilled and experienced Dairy Cattle Farm Operator who can use their knowledge and skills to perform set procedures such as milking and attending to livestock, haymaking, and fencing. The role involves applying knowledge and skills to multiple operations, including basic problem solving and decision making, with an understanding of the overall processes involved in a dairy farm.

This is a full-time position which may involve weekend or public holiday work and some unplanned hours, paid accordingly.

Duties and responsibilities :

  1. Operate milking plant and equipment;
  2. Identify and report equipment not operating normally;
  3. Work cooperatively as part of a team;
  4. Read and record instrument information, e.g., milk vat temperatures and cow numbers;
  5. Understand the principles of safe working;
  6. Undertake multiple functions to produce quality outcomes, e.g., farm machinery operation;
  7. Maintain machinery, undertake adjustments, and size changes;
  8. Solve problems and make decisions within given guidelines;
  9. Assist with processes such as machine repair, artificial insemination, fertiliser mix design, using general scientific terminology;
  10. Operate standard measuring equipment;
  11. Operate computerised systems using menu options;
  12. Contribute to the team in a specific role, providing input and assisting other team members;
  13. Work at times without supervision.
