Nursing Assistant - Port Macquarie Donor Centre role at Australian Red Cross Lifeblood

About the roleStep into a rewarding role as a Nursing Assistant where you will bring excellent customer-facing skills and a genuine passion to deliver an exceptional service to our donors. You will support donors through their donation process. Full training is provided, so you only need curiosity and motivation to learn the process of collecting blood and biological products.
A day in the centre could include:
- Greet and interview potential donors to assess eligibility and suitability to donate
- Create a donor experience donors will love—and want to return
- Complete routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests
- Set up machines and collections equipment
- Insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood and plasma
- Monitor donors post-donation and assist with rebooking their next donation
- Work collaboratively to achieve collection targets
No prior experience in blood collection is needed; a paid and flexible self-paced training program provides a balance between on-the-job practice and online classes to ensure you are well supported.
What you'll need to succeed- Be comfortable with needles and blood/biological materials
- Occasionally lift between 9–22.7 kg
- Support and foster a fantastic team culture
- Frequently stand, walk and bend to set up and pack down machines and blood products
- Be flexible to work varied shifts on a fortnightly rotating roster from Monday to Saturday, including weekends and afternoon shifts
