Overview

Lead transformative change in Queensland's housing and homelessness sector.

Responsibilities
  • Drive innovative solutions to improve housing and homelessness outcomes.
  • Oversee a $670 million budget up to 90 programs.
  • Collaborate with government, non-profits, and industry leaders.
  • Oversee the development and management of innovative and accountable programs related to the department's investment in homelessness and housing services and collaboration with non-profit, for-profit, and government partners to create a more efficient and integrated service system, ultimately improving long-term outcomes for individuals in need of homelessness and housing support.
  • Lead and manage the accelerated delivery of key initiatives, including developing and implementing innovative solutions and projects to assist Queenslanders in accessing and remaining in social housing and the private housing market; drive improvements within the homelessness and housing sector.
  • Build partnerships, enhance capability with industry partners and manage large-scale investments on behalf of the department.
  • Lead a branch of 150 FTE, managing a $670 million budget, overseeing up to 90 programs and projects, and engaging with over 200 service providers. Drive governance, initiative oversight, and operational performance; develop procurement and contract management strategies with Commonwealth and State Governments; engage with the homelessness and community housing sectors to meet complex community needs.
  • Collaborate with peak bodies and service providers to build sector capacity and address housing needs of high-need clients, including young people, people with disabilities, older Queenslanders, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander households.
  • Drive program reform to ensure government investment delivers measurable outcomes for Queensland communities and effectively address homelessness.
  • Guide the branch in developing innovative approaches to housing and homelessness challenges; oversee policies, performance management systems, and provide expert advice to the Minister, Director-General, Deputy Director-General and Leadership Team on portfolio management and service effectiveness.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing culture; support the department's vision of safe, secure, and affordable housing for all Queenslanders; drive modernization of the housing service system with integrated strategy, policy, program design, and service delivery.
What We Are Looking For
  • a record of success as a leader in a large and complex organisation (across government, the private sector or not-for-profit sector) with an outstanding leadership ability.
  • Extensive experience in leading and implementing programs and initiatives that deliver housing supply to support the Government's strategic policy direction.
  • Strong background in navigating and managing highly complex stakeholder engagement and relationships, strategy and policy implementation.
