Field Service Manager

A leadership opportunity has opened for an experienced Field Service Engineering Lead to take charge of a globally distributed team supporting the deployment, servicing, and maintenance of high-tech defence and security systems.

This hands-on leadership role will oversee operations across multiple regions, ensuring customers receive timely, expert support while driving operational improvements, resolving technical issues, and developing scalable service processes. The successful candidate will bring strong leadership experience, deep technical understanding, and a passion for high-stakes field operations.

Responsibilities

• Manage, develop, and grow a global team of Field Service Engineers
• Lead hiring, onboarding, and performance management of regional FSEs
• Coordinate global system deployments, field upgrades, and repairs
• Oversee technical support delivery in accordance with SLAs and contractual requirements
• Act as the primary escalation point for critical technical issues in the field
• Establish and maintain SOPs, service documentation, safety protocols, and training frameworks
• Champion continuous improvement using performance data, feedback, and field insights
• Coordinate with engineering, QA, operations, and product teams to streamline deployment workflows
• Ensure accurate documentation via tools such as Jira, Salesforce, or equivalents
• Support warranty offerings, field servicing contracts, and customer success initiatives
• Represent the field service function in customer-facing and internal strategy discussions

Requirements & Skills

• Degree-qualified in Electronics, Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years' experience in technical field service, systems integration, or applications support
• 2+ years of proven experience managing or leading engineering teams
• Exposure to RF, embedded, or electronic hardware systems is desirable
• Confident communicator with excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
• Skilled in technical problem-solving, fault diagnosis, and root cause analysis
• Comfortable working in operational, ruggedised environments for field validation and testing
• Strong written documentation and technical reporting capabilities
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed
• Must be eligible for an Australian NV1 security clearance
