About the opportunity

Our client is seeking a Financial Accountant to support the Finance Business Partner. Based at their Newcastle CBD office, you will play a key role as part of a collaborative Finance team. This is a varied position that offers scope across transactional duties, reporting, and process improvement. This role is a permeant position an able to be either full-time or part-time for the right candidate

What we're looking for:

  • An experienced accounting professional who enjoys a hands-on transactional role.

  • Confident in preparing and lodging BAS and managing other tax-related tasks.

  • Experienced in completing bank and general ledger reconciliations, financial journals, and credit card acquittals.

  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when reviewing payroll and accounts payable prior to payment runs.

  • Ability to assist in the preparation of monthly reports and annual statutory accounts.

  • A proactive approach to improving financial controls, supporting audits, and enhancing processes.

  • Comfortable undertaking ad hoc tasks and projects as required.

  • Able to work closely with the Finance Business Partner to deliver timely and accurate financial services.

  • Skilled in building strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • A clear communicator, responsive to finance-related queries.

  • Willing to collaborate across departments on projects as required.

About you

We are looking for an experienced accounting professional with a minimum of one year in a hands-on, transactional accounting role. You'll be a proactive problem-solver with excellent organisational and communication skills, a sharp eye for detail, and a genuine drive to improve processes and collaborate with others.

Essential Criteria

  • A degree in Accounting or Business (or currently working towards one)

  • A current Working With Children Check (WWCC)
