The Role

We currently have a fantastic opportunity in our Ports & Maritime team for a Senior Coastal Engineer. You will work as part of a cohesive team to successfully deliver various coastal and maritime engineering services to clients, including government, port authorities, and private sectors. This role can be based in Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane.

As a Senior Engineer, you will provide high-quality design, analysis, and engineering knowledge, along with effective project management skills to support project delivery and business needs. You will be involved in planning and conducting complex engineering projects, collaborating proactively with team members, contributors, and stakeholders to ensure quality, timeliness, and coordination of project deliverables to meet client requirements and contribute to the team's commercial success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Scoping and managing metocean studies
  • Design of coastal protection structures
  • Coastal climate change adaptation planning
  • Design of marinas and small craft facilities
  • Planning and designing coastal and maritime infrastructure for ports, resources, water infrastructure, aquaculture, and renewable energy sectors
  • Managing the delivery of coastal and maritime engineering projects in accordance with HSE and QA policies, either individually, as part of a team, or leading a team depending on project complexity
  • Preparing proposals, fee estimates, and project programs
  • Liaising with clients for service delivery, networking, and business development
  • Providing technical leadership, mentoring, and supervision for junior engineers
  • Some intra and interstate travel as required
  • Chartered or actively working towards chartership and applicable registration
Candidate Requirements
  • Degree in Civil, Structural, or Maritime Engineering (or similar)
  • Minimum 6+ years of relevant commercial experience
  • Knowledge and experience in asset management, maritime structures, and port engineering
  • Experience managing project deliverables from start to finish; experience with Western Australian projects is highly desirable
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and report-writing abilities
  • Willingness to undertake domestic or international travel
