We are seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineering Technician to carry out inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs on our fleet of plant, trucks, and specialised asphalt paving and profiling equipment. This hands-on role is essential in ensuring our machinery operates safely, reliably, and at peak performance, supporting the delivery of our civil construction and asphalt projects.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance and urgent repairs on heavy plant, trucks, asphalt pavers, profilers, and related equipment.
  • Inspect and test mechanical systems, hydraulic circuits, pneumatic systems, and engine performance to identify faults.
  • Adjust, modify, and calibrate equipment and components to improve performance and ensure operational specifications are met.
  • Install, assemble, and test mechanical components and systems.
  • Prepare accurate maintenance records, technical reports, and parts requisitions.
  • Use precision measuring tools and diagnostic equipment to verify compliance with engineering and safety standards.
  • Work with supervisors and operators to identify performance issues and recommend practical solutions.
  • Maintain the workshop, tools, and equipment in a clean, safe, and serviceable condition.
  • Ensure all work complies with WHS, environmental, and quality requirements.
  • Source and order replacement parts and materials to support timely repairs.
Qualifications
  • Trade qualification as a Mechanical Engineering Technician, Fitter, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining and repairing heavy plant, trucks, and specialised asphalt paving and profiling machinery.
  • Strong skills in diagnosing and repairing hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to interpret and work from technical drawings, manuals, and specifications.
  • White Card and relevant machinery certifications.
  • Solid understanding of Work Health & Safety (WHS) requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
