Job Description

Main Purpose of the Role:

The Enterprise Data Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, reusable data models and reporting solutions that align with Enterprise Data Management (EDM) principles. This role supports the company's data strategy by enabling consistent, accurate, and efficient data usage across the business. It involves delivering high-quality data management, advanced analytics, and business intelligence capabilities—primarily through tools such as Power BI—while supporting data governance and contributing to the progression toward a federated self-service reporting model. The position requires collaboration with technical and business stakeholders to ensure data solutions meet strategic and operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Includes but not limited to the following:

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise data models to support business reporting, dashboards, and analytics.
  • Build and optimise Power BI data models, semantic layers, and relationships between data sources.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and reporting datasets.
  • Develop processes and policies to collect, store, manage, and utilise data across the enterprise.
  • Implement data governance practices for enterprise data, enhancing the management, security, and compliance of data across the business, including data dictionaries, metadata and lineage tracking.
  • Promote consistent data definitions and naming conventions across business units and support the creation and maintenance of a central data catalogue.

Data Quality

  • Implement data quality checks, data cleansing processes, and validation rules to improve data reliability.
  • Identify and address data quality issues by collaborating with system owners and analysts.
  • Define data validation rules and support master data alignment across systems.

Data Visualisation & Business Enablement

  • Create clear, insightful, and actionable dashboards using Power BI for business stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in UI visual design, design principles, and data storytelling.
  • Support business users by building visualisations during the transition to self-service analytics maturity.
  • Advocate for and educate users on data storytelling, visual best practices, and effective use of Power BI.
  • Serve as a Power BI SME to assist and mentor teams (if desired) where they may progressively manage their own reports over time.
Desired Skills and Experience

Qualifications

Minimum level of knowledge/skills/training required to carry out the job:

  • Recognised Diploma or Degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar.
  • 2+ years experience in managing enterprise data, data analysis, modelling, and BI development.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as DAX, SQL, Python and R to connect, explore, transform, model, and analyse data.
  • Good verbal communication skills, ability to write clearly and concisely.
