The Team:

Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania's largest hospital, serving as the main tertiary referral centre for many specialised clinical care, surgery, and procedures across Tasmania. As a major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH collaborates closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions. All services work together to deliver excellence in healthcare, aiming for high-quality, safe, and improved outcomes for consumers, the workforce, and the Tasmanian community.

The Role:

  • Lead and implement the local and integrated quality, improvement, and patient safety program, aligned with the organisational needs of Hospitals South and current best practices.
  • Provide high-level leadership and management of change and improvement initiatives, supporting local management to achieve measurable process improvements.
  • Assist the organisation in achieving accreditation under national safety and quality standards.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture emphasizing respect, inclusion, and teamwork.
  • Collaborate with departments and craft groups to contribute to service development and innovation.
  • Participate in relevant training, supervision, and professional development activities.
  • Support continuous quality improvement and safety programs hospital-wide.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective health systems and models of care.
  • Contribute to the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care in line with RHH's clinical standards.
  • Support and contribute to clinical teaching and research initiatives, where applicable, in partnership with the University of Tasmania.
You will need:
  • Extensive experience in quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management within healthcare, with the ability to design, implement, and evaluate holistic improvements.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the health industry and significant experience working with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Deep understanding of relevant industry quality and safety standards, with high-level experience in their application.

Details of appointment:

This is a permanent full-time day position, working 76 hours per fortnight, starting as soon as possible.

Hours are negotiable with the successful applicant. The selection process may be used to fill similar vacancies for twelve months from the date of publication.

Salary: $139,470 to $148,863 per annum, plus employer superannuation of 12%.

Eligibility:
Candidates should ideally have:
  • Clinical registration and/or health service management experience.
  • Extensive experience managing and leading complex teams.
  • Experience and/or certification in Quality Improvement and/or Accreditation.
  • Relevant professional qualifications aligned with industry safety standards.
  • Current Driver's Licence.
