The Research Coordinator will support the Research Unit Manager in developing, implementing, and monitoring a Strategic Research Plan for the Tasmanian Health Service (THS) North and Northwest (N/NW). This work will be carried out in collaboration with the Research Director, senior clinical and hospital leadership, and the Clifford Craig Foundation. Together, the Research Unit Manager and Research Coordinator will play a key role in establishing the Research & Innovation Centre at Launceston General Hospital, serving the THS N/NW region.
The Team:
In Northern Tasmania, a new Research and Innovation Centre has been established, offering dedicated spaces for research, clinical trials and research education activities.
This state-of-the-art facility is the largest of its kind in regional Australia, occupying an entire floor within a purpose-built area at the Launceston General Hospital precinct.
The centre includes specialized areas to support clinical trials, including feasibility assessments, recruitment facilitation, business and account management, as well as dedicated offices for ethics and governance.
The Clifford Craig Research and Innovation Centre houses both the Clifford Craig Foundation who fund medical research and the Research Unit, serving as a showcase for collaborative funding and partnerships in research and clinical trials. It encompasses the full spectrum of research activity—from securing funding to study completion.
The Role:
The Research Coordinator role will assist the Research Unit Manager in the development, implementation, and monitoring of a Strategic Research Plan for the THS North and Northwest (N/NW) in conjunction with the Research Director, senior clinical and hospital managers as well as the Clifford Craig Foundation. The Research Unit Manager and Research Coordinator will work closely together to establish the Research & Innovation Centre at the Launceston General Hospital for the North and Northwest Tasmanian Health Service.
This role is intended to provide guidance and coordination in, and to be, the interface between research, policy & practice, and implementation with a primary focus on building research capability and capacity across THS N/NW
You will need:
- Ability to demonstrate experience in managing research and/or clinical trials practice within the public health system.
- Sound evidence of professional leadership qualities and capabilities of management responsibilities.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and motivational skills which demonstrate a capacity to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse stakeholder groups.

Details of appointment:
Fixed term part time, day worker position, working 53.2 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of 3 years.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary:$107,899 to $122,292 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.

- Post-graduate research related qualifications, or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience working with clinical trials sponsors, collaborative research groups and/or research funding bodies.
- Previous experience working with university sector researcher with a research focus.
