Experienced General Practice Administrator role for Morecambe Bay Primary Care Collaborative in Coniston. The closing date is 28 September 2025. On 1 August 2025, Morecambe Bay Primary Care Collaborative, your local not-for-profit GP federation, will begin supporting the patients of Coniston for a 12 month period while a longer term provider is secured. The surgery will be open 5 days a week, with no lone working at any time. Your working hours will be between 08:00 and 18:30, Monday to Friday.
To do this, we need friendly, capable local people to help us run the practice, and we're looking for a part-time Administrator to join our team.
Main dutiesWhat's the role
As an Administrator, you'll be the welcoming face of the practice, helping patients feel supported from the moment they walk in. You'll be answering phones, booking appointments, signposting patients, and ensuring the front desk runs smoothly.
No NHS experience? That's okay. If you're organised, confident, and have a warm, professional manner, we'll teach you the rest.

Job responsibilitiesWe are looking to recruit an experienced General Practice Administrator to work as part of a team providing a full administrative service. To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties can include, but are not limited to, greeting and directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, processing information and assisting patients as required.
To act as the central point of contact for patients, be responsible for the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaise with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.
Key requirements of the role
The following are the core responsibilities of the Receptionist. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.
- Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system
- Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments
- Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the caller's request appropriately
- Signpost patients to the correct service
- Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, team members and external agencies
- Code data on the clinical IT system
- Photocopy documentation as required
- Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required
- Input data into patients' healthcare records as necessary
- Direct requests for information (e.g., SAR, insurance solicitors letters and DVLA forms) to the administrative team
- Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner
- Carry out system searches as requested
- Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
- Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards
- Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested

General
The post holder will participate in and help develop a culture that promotes equality and values diversity, comply with MBPCC Equality and Diversity policies, and uphold openness, transparency and candour in all working practices. They will have, or acquire through training, the appropriate level of safeguarding knowledge and practice, and be aware of and comply with safeguarding policies. Any infection prevention and control issues should be reported to the line manager. The post-holder will participate in training programmes implemented by MBPCC as part of this employment.
