
Communications & Engagement Officer – NSW Decarbonisation Hub

The Communications & Engagement Officer is responsible for developing and implementing engagement and communication strategies (internal and external) to promote the purpose and outcomes of the NSW Decarbonisation Hub and its programs. This includes content development, coordination of events and roadshows, social media and web management, and stakeholder engagement. The role reports to the Chief Operating Officer and works in close collaboration with the CEO, Business Managers and Administrators to drive engagement for the Hub.
The NSW Decarbonisation Hub supports the NSW Government's goal of net zero emissions by 2050 and a 50% reduction by 2030. The Hub aims to bring together researchers, industry and government stakeholders to collaborate and increase the uptake of new technologies to decarbonise NSW. The successful candidate will be required to travel once a fortnight to Western Sydney University, Hawkesbury Campus, with additional travel likely 1-2 times monthly.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement communication strategies to raise the profile of programs and outcomes of the Hub and its Networks, including internal and digital communications, media outreach, social media management and stakeholder engagement.
- Lead the development of social media content based on research outcomes, industry partnerships and research profiles to achieve objective outcomes.
- Prepare and distribute external communications content that profiles the Hub and its Network via the Hub monthly Newsletter.
- Develop media releases, key messages and briefing notes as required.
- Support the delivery and promotion of all events, funds and campaigns of the Hub, ensuring maximum profile for the Hub and its Networks (including events, roadshows, webinars and showcases, outreach activities as required).
- Support the strategic vision and implementation of strategies to align to funding agreements, partners and ecosystems.
- Explore and develop relationships with Industry, Government, Partner Institutions and Community to broaden the Decarbonisation Hub's reach and engagement.
- Assist in researching, writing, preparation and layout of the Hub Annual Report.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government, industry and academic partners.
- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent experience, or equivalent competence gained through education, training, and experience.
- Proven track record in delivering marketing strategies that achieve measurable outcomes in support of organisational objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to distill complex information into straightforward messages for a diverse group of stakeholders in support of strategic goals.
- Ability to liaise effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders, and to develop new initiatives with creativity and enthusiasm.
- Extensive knowledge of communication platforms including traditional, digital, and social channels. Knowledge of CRM platforms is advantageous.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and proficiency in influencing and negotiating to achieve outcomes.
- Highly motivated with strong skills in science communication and interest in corporate and government relationships is desirable.
