Overview

Join to apply for the Senior Health and Safety Advisor role at McConnell Dowell on behalf of Unitywater. The program includes major water and wastewater infrastructure projects to support the Aura and Harmony communities on the Sunshine Coast. This is initially a 6-month contract with potential long-term opportunities for high performers.

This role is pivotal for embedding best practice safety standards from planning through delivery and will oversee site-based safety performance across complex construction activities.

Responsibilities
  • Provide safety leadership, coaching and mentoring to project teams and contractors.
  • Drive compliance with legislation, company standards, and client expectations.
  • Conduct risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Develop and implement project-specific health and safety management plans.
  • Support the delivery of a positive safety culture, ensuring every worker goes home safe.
  • Oversee safety for activities including open-trench and trenchless piping, large diameter pipelines (up to 12 km), pump stations and reservoir construction, with engagement with local and First Nations businesses and employees.
About You
  • Proven experience in a Senior Safety role within large-scale civil, infrastructure or utilities projects.
  • Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and contemporary safety practices.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage multiple stakeholders.
  • A collaborative and proactive approach, with a focus on continuous improvement.
