Overview

About the role A great opportunity is now available for an experienced Media and Communications professional to hit the ground running in the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator's (NHVR) Corporate Affairs division.

Reporting to the Manager Media and Communications, you will have a balance of internal and external responsibilities. Internally, the Media and Communications Advisor creates CEO and executive communications and works across the NHVR's business areas to assist with communications needs. Externally, you will be responsible for responding to media enquiries and producing media releases and media alerts and producing our industry and local government e-newsletters.

This is a temporary position until September 2026 working on a full-time basis during the period, based in Newstead's vibrant Gasworks precinct - close to transport, cafes and end of trip facilities. We are also willing to consider applicants based in Adelaide or Melbourne. Being a communications role, there may be a requirement to undertake occasional on-call work outside of business hours.

Responsibilities
  • Internally, create CEO and executive communications and work across NHVR's business areas to assist with communications needs.
  • Externally, respond to media enquiries and produce media releases and media alerts, and develop industry and local government e-newsletters.
  • Support communications across the corporate affairs team and contribute to a range of communications outputs.
  • Occasionally undertake on-call work outside standard business hours as required for a communications role.
Requirements / Qualifications


• Experience as a media and communications professional (as indicated in the role).

Work arrangements and benefits

This is a temporary, full-time position until September 2026. Location options include Newstead (Gasworks precinct), Adelaide, or Melbourne. The role offers a hybrid work environment and may include rostered days off and additional leave during the Christmas/New Year period.
