Cleveland High School - Activity Coordinator/CTE Teacher (Project Management FTE, Seattle Public Schools
Responsibilities
- Activity Coordinator may be assigned to teach a project management course to provide guidance and work time with Associated Student Body (ASB) officers.
- Coordinates student activities or athletics, schedules events; arranges for supervision and adult coverage of school-sponsored events; assists in coordinating and planning use of campus facilities and officials.
- Promotes and fosters student participation in school activities; provides for student leadership programs; supervises student government activities.
- Oversees Associated Student Body (ASB) activities; ensures compliance with ASB rules, regulations and procedures.
- Oversees a wide variety of clubs, fundraising and other school activities; coordinates with club and class advisors and administrators; enforces state and district rules and regulations; works with students on a wide variety of activities.
- Administers ASB activities budgets; identifies and communicates budget needs; approves and tracks expenditures; accounts for purchase, use, storage and inventory of ASB and Graduation activity equipment.
- Determines equipment and supply needs; orders equipment and supplies; verifies receipt of and distributes materials and supplies; resolves problems with vendors as necessary.
- Monitors the care, cleaning, repairing, storing, inventory and destruction of all activity supplies; monitors the return of school equipment; establishes and ensures adherence to procedures for return of equipment and supplies; maintains accurate equipment records.
- Maintains liaison with other activity coordinators; maintains current knowledge of practices, trends, issues, directions, rules and regulations governing school ASB activities; enforces District and State ASB rules, regulations, and policies.
- Facilitates the development of goals and objectives for activities, consistent with District-approved policy and procedures; assesses effectiveness; recommends and implements improvements and special projects; serves as a member of the building instruction council.
- Fosters an educational environment conducive to the learning and maturation process of assigned students; plans an instructional program designed to meet individual student needs and whole groups in an inclusive environment; prepares lesson plans.
- Directs the activities of assigned non-certificated personnel.
- Attends related staff or team meetings and activities; supervises school events as needed.
Other Functions
- Schedules transportation as necessary to meet activity commitments.
- Performs a wide variety of operational support and coordination of activities, such as assisting in securing maintenance services, disseminating ASB literature, coordinating publicity, running student elections, and coordinating with administration to plan the annual graduation ceremony.
- Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.

Reports to building principal.

Education & Experience
- Valid teacher's certification with CTE Endorsement for Project Management.
- Bachelor's degree or appropriate industry background that qualifies the teacher for a Washington State CTE credential; academic preparation for or experience in teaching a culturally, racially and economically diverse student population in an urban school system. Specific programs may require additional academic preparation or professional experience, including working in an inclusive setting to promote college and career readiness for all students.
- Desirable: Bilingual preferred.

Licenses / Special Requirements
- Valid Washington State Teacher's Certificate.
- Valid Washington State driver\'s license.
Seattle Public Schools benefits are administered by the Washington State Healthcare Authority (HCA) under the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB). Eligibility for benefits is determined by the number of hours employees are anticipated to work during the school year (September 1 through August 31). Any employee who is scheduled to work 630 hours or more in a year is eligible for benefits.
