Senior Specialty Underwriter, MidwestWhat You'll Do

Engage in next-generation risk assessment, moving away from binary underwriting towards data-driven risk selection using mega data, AI, and curiosity. Modernize underwriting with cutting-edge technology to assess risk, price, and tailor coverage/terms to grow and manage a profitable book of business. Honeycomb offers growth opportunities through mentorship, engaging projects, personalized training, and exposure to expand your network.

  • Establish and shape our presence in the light-nondamitted market.
  • Quote and release new light nonadmitted business, including referred business and those seeking changes beyond user thresholds.
  • Analyze and approve policy changes, ensuring compliance with guidelines and regulations.
  • Maintain knowledge of E&S state insurance regulations and ISO rules within your territory.
  • Communicate openly and supportively with team members and partners.
  • Monitor portfolio via reports, audits, and inspections.
  • Support marketing efforts to promote Honeycomb.
  • Complete special projects and assignments.
  • Travel as necessary.
Basic Requirements
  • 5+ years of Habitational underwriting/insurance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of habitational insurance products and principles.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Retail agency relationship experience preferred.
  • Curiosity, hardworking, self-accountable, positive attitude, humble, and fun.
  • Openness to sharing and receiving opinions.
  • Passion for knowledge sharing and learning.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Located in the Eastern territory with understanding of the East Coast insurance landscape.
