Southern Cross Housing (SCH) is an accredited Tier 1 Community Housing Provider under the National Regulatory System for Community Housing. We manage a range of crisis, transitional, social, and affordable housing properties across an area from Wollongong to Eden and Jindabyne. With a portfolio of approximately 2,300 dwellings, SCH manages assets worth over $1 billion and has net assets exceeding $100 million.

Since its inception in 1983, SCH has grown into a leading provider of Social and Affordable Housing in Regional NSW, renowned for service excellence and innovation, fostering opportunities for growth.

We aim to continue this growth to meet community needs.

The opportunity

We are seeking a candidate to work collaboratively with the SCH Board to uphold SCH's leadership and innovation in the Social & Affordable Housing Sector.

This is a remunerated position, with Board members expected to meet 10 times per year, engage as needed between meetings, and participate in annual professional development.

Per SCH's Constitution, Directors are appointed for three-year terms, with reappointment possible up to a maximum of 9 years.

Selection criteria

The ideal candidate will demonstrate financial expertise, a genuine interest in and understanding of the Social and Affordable Housing Sector, strong business acumen, strategic ability, good governance understanding, and excellent communication skills.

The Board values gender balance, diversity, and inclusion and welcomes applications from diverse backgrounds.
