Job Description

The Senior Claims Consultant is a specialist role within our Corporate Insurance team, responsible for managing a small, complex portfolio of life insurance claims across IP/TPD and related benefits. You will act as a technical expert, applying your deep claims knowledge to multi-policy fund arrangements while also coaching and mentoring developing consultants.

This role is suited to a highly experienced life claims professional who thrives on complex case management, technical excellence, and building capability within the team.

In This Role You Will

  • Manage a small portfolio (20–25 claims) across IP/TPD claims.
  • Work across multiple arrangements and policies, requiring strong technical knowledge.
  • Act as a technical expert within the team, providing guidance on strategy and decision-making.
  • Coach and mentor claims consultants and emerging seniors, supporting their development.
  • Lead and contribute to quality assurance, capability uplift and process improvements.
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships with funds, trustees and internal partners.

Qualifications
  • Extensive life insurance claims management experience (Group and/or Retail).
  • Strong technical expertise across IP, TPD, TI and Death claims.
  • Proven ability to coach, mentor and uplift capability in others.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, with experience managing complex and disputed claims.
  • Familiarity with multi-policy / multi-arrangement portfolios highly desirable.
  • ALUCA membership and/or Certificate IV in Life Insurance (Kaplan) is highly regarded.
