About The Service

The JCPRP Health Clinician assists the JCPRP Senior Health Clinician in providing all Health components of the JCPRP response in partnership with NSW Police Child Abuse Unit and NSW Department of Justice and Community Services (DJC), to undertake a joint response to children and young people suspected to be a risk of sexual harm, serious physical harm and extreme neglect. JCPRP links the responsibilities of the three agencies and aims to reduce the emotional trauma for children and young people through more effective co-ordinated and integrated forensic and psycho-social response.

What You'll Be Doing

The Joint Child Protection Response Program (JCPRP) Health Clinician provides direct support to children and young people and non-offending parents/carers who are referred to JCPRP. The role provides timely, high level advice on strategic, policy and operational health issues to children and young people who have experienced sexual assault, physical abuse and neglect and their non-offending family members in relation to JCPRP.

Selection Criteria

  1. Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Psychologist OR relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work with eligibility to the respective Australian professional association.
  2. Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with Aboriginal services, community members and ability to provide culturally safe environment for peers, children and families.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with Aboriginal services, community members and ability to provide culturally safe environment for peers, children and families.
  4. Demonstrated high level interpersonal, communication verbal and written, consultation and negotiations skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and refine strategic relationships both within and external to the organisation.
  5. Demonstrated ability to independently problem-solve and set priorities in complex clinical situations.
  6. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain co-operative professional and therapeutic relationships with key stakeholders and clients through the application of well-developed interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  7. Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal communities and/or understanding of issues surrounding child sexual assault, physical abuse and neglect of children and family violence in Aboriginal communities.
  8. Evidence of a current unrestricted driver's licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.
