What You'll Be Doing In This Role

The Food Service Department of the Sydney Adventist Hospital (San) seeks two enthusiastic Café Assistants (internally known as Baristas). The on-site SanCafe serves staff, patients and visitors in a welcoming atmosphere. Shifts run daily from 6.45am to 7pm and are 4–8 hours. Availability across all days of the week and shifts is required to support the team, rather than fixed days/times. You'll work with colleagues to provide quality coffee and customer service to patients, the community and hospital staff, handling food preparation and service with strict adherence to hygiene and WHS standards.

Responsibilities
  • Operate a commercial espresso coffee machine and prepare a variety of coffees for customers
  • Use a Point of Sale system and handle cash accurately
  • Deliver outstanding customer service and build rapport with customers and colleagues
  • Prioritise workload to meet tight time schedules
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and manual handling
Who We Are Looking For
  • Experience using a commercial espresso coffee machine and making a range of coffees in a café, restaurant or similar hospitality environment
  • Experience with Point of Sale / cash handling
  • Outstanding people skills and the ability to build rapport
  • A commitment to providing exceptional customer service
  • Well-organised with the ability to prioritise tasks
  • Strong awareness of food safety and WHS standards
  • Full Australian working rights
